The Myriad - Thousand Winters Melting

This summer, I worked in Holland, 5 days a week. It was a solid job. Part of my job though, was the 30 minute commute each way. This meant that I went through lots of CDs or just listened to them a bunch of times. I listened to a lot of different styles, bands, albums, songs, etc. At one point, towards the end of the summer, I rediscovered my love for The Myriad (unfortunately, they are no longer making music) and listened to With Arrows, With Poise. One of the tracks on this album is A Thousand Winters Melting (sorry, it's the best 'video' I could find).

To be honest, I don't have a whole lot to say here right now, but I just wanted to point out some of the lyrics in this song:
love, love, a thousand winters melting
love, yes love, as you wrap your arms around me
there's a thousand ways you love me
and a thousand times you've shown me
and if ever I felt love
I found you

I love this song a lot. I really enjoyed the times when it would come on while I was driving. I'm really not sure what about it, but it just kinda hit me in a way every time these lyrics were sung. I just love it.

"Love- a thousand winters melting." Think about it: a thousand winters of pain, loneliness, and sadness, all melted away by the warmth of love. Love from people, but most importantly, love from God.
"As you wrap your arms around me/there's a thousand ways you love me/and a thousand times you've shown me" If we've been shown once, we've been shown a thousand times. God loves us all, ya know?
"If ever I felt love/I found you" God is love. Simple, quick, and truth. When we find God, we find love.

I'm not really trying to get at too much, I don't think. Basically just that, I enjoy this song, and I'd like to encourage you to give it a listen if you haven't already (link in first paragraph). I really like the imagery (and that's a big deal coming from an engineer).

What about you? Do you have any thoughts about it?

  1. Zac,

I think one of the best lines of the song(besides the chorus) would be,
"...wait for us to listen, to the voices we can't see..." I mean how true it that? Do we not, as Christians, do that on a daily basis? Okay yes, we never really see voices, but we are continually listening for voices that we can't hear. How do we expect to hear the voice of God if we aren't listening? If we aren't engaging in a relationship with Him each day? Can we expect Him to just tell us the path He wants us to take if we do not first open our hearts to Him? Of course not! So what then? If we talk to Him a little each day, will He then tell us the direction to go? Not always. How can we hear God's voice? Why do we feel so lonely at times when we are surrounded by God's love? How do we know what His plan is for us? These are tough questions. I think our hearts just have to be open. What do you think? How do we listen to the voices we can't see?
