Edit: Once again, the title has little to do with the post, and the subject shifts quite a bit. Oh well, thanks for reading :)
The plan here is to put a few legitimate thoughts down about rest. I feel like the "preliminary post" was disorganized and basically just said that I like to sleep (which is true). So, I guess this is it:
Rest can mean a few different things for different people. Even different things for the same person. I mean, most of the time, when I say I need rest, I mean I need to sleep. Either I didn't sleep much the night before, or I've been up long enough that I need sleep again, so I rest. I can also rest by just stepping back from life and shutting out the world. Usually this takes the form of TV or video games. In doing this, I rest my mind from the stress and the busyness of the world. This tends to happen when (you guessed it) I've been stressed or busy. Rest can also be in the form of an activity. For me, I can rest by disc golfing or running (ok, not so much the running since a little over a year ago). For a prolonged rest period, people sometimes go on vacation (I feel like I haven't for a while. Just a thought).
That's what my life is. Always will be. I cannot imagine being in a place in my life where I will think "Ya know, I'm swell. No need for change here." Therefore, my life is a work in progress. Through it (or at least part of it), I will be keeping this blog concerning things that happen to me, my thoughts, and perhaps thoughts from some of you. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

A preliminary post on rest
Rest has always been a big part of my life, specifically sleep. And after writing that, I notice how I should be sleeping rather than writing a blog. I mean, everyone sleeps for a fairly large percentage of their day. Anyways, back to rest. Just for kicks, I asked google what the word "rest" means (define:rest). Here are my definition choices (which I might dislike later), one as a verb, one as a noun. As a verb, rest can mean to "cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength." As a noun, a rest is "an instance or period of relaxing or ceasing to engage in strenuous or stressful activity." On a fairly shallow level, I would say that rest is just a necessary part of life that we need to take in order to keep doing things. On a fairly shallow level. I mean, no one can work continuously; we all know that, because I'm sure we've all tried. How often has that worked out for you? I'm not sure about you, but it has always ended poorly for me.
Well, I was hoping to say a little more, but no dice. I need to (ready for it?) rest. I am tired, body and mind; therefore, I must rest. I apologize for the truncated post. I'll try to get some more out tomorrow night, but no promises. This week is a very busy week for me. Between working 40 hours in 4 days, a bachelor party, rehearsal (dinner), brother/sister-in-law in town, and my brother's wedding; I will not have a whole ton of time to post. Anyways, be sure to get your rest, because I know some of you don't.
