Here it is: an honest to goodness new and original post. This post brought to you by cinnamon toast crunch and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
So, I have a mother. She loves me a lot. I'm super thankful for her (and I'm sorry, Mom, for not telling you more often). She does a lot of normal motherly things, one of which being that little conversation mother's have whenever their kids are leaving, even if just for 20 minutes. You might know how it goes, but in my experience, it looks a little like this:
Me: Alright, I'm leaving. See ya!
Her: Have fun!
Me: Will do
Her: Be safe!
Me: I'll try
Her: Make good decisions!
Me: No promises (of course I'm kidding)
That's how it went for the longest time, until one day, she added another line: "Be a blessing!"
Initially, it kind of took me off guard. I'd never really thought about it before, but was I being a blessing in my daily interactions with people (specifically my friends)? Was I making positive impacts on their lives? While I think the answer was typically yes (I'm kind of full of myself), I don't think I was being very intentional. Now, when she says it, I typically say something along the lines of, "I'll do my best." I've actually started saying it to some of my friends (usually when I won't be seeing them for a while).
Anyways, this is me calling you out. Be a blessing to everyone you come in contact with.
Just keep doin what you're doin!
